A dispute that shook
the World Cup qualifiers.
Representing the Chilean Football Federation, we took the Byron Castillo case from FIFA to CAS. The tribunal found that the authentic Ecuadorian passport contained false information concerning the player’s birthplace in Tumaco, Colombia, and sanctioned the Ecuadorian federation with a fine and a three-point deduction in the following qualifiers.
