  • Professional Experience

    Eduardo Carlezzo, founding partner of Carlezzo Advogados, began his career in law in 2002, in the city of Porto Alegre, in an economical consultancy firm, working on subjects related to corporate and tax planning. In the corporate sphere, provided consultancy in many mergers and acquisition operations, also serving as a counselor in some antitrust cases.

    The experience in business law gave Eduardo Carlezzo the ability to look at business in a more comprehensive and strategic way, favouring his activities in the sports market, industry to which he began to dedicate himself exclusively in 2004, when he founded Carlezzo Advogados in the city of São Paulo.

    In the same year, he launched the first legal book aimed exclusively at sports relations with the business sector, whose title is "Sports Business Law", which deals, among other aspects, with the transformation of football clubs into companies.

    Since 2004 he has participated in and advised a wide range of activities and sport business, ranging from advice to athletes and clubs, to agents, companies, sponsors and federations, among others.

    Eduardo has a strong presence in South American football advising clubs in several countries, as well as agents and athletes, in national and international transfers of players.

    Currently much of his legal practice is dedicated to international issues relating to procedures before FIFA, UEFA, Conmebol and Court of Arbitration for Sport.

    He participated in some of the most relevant cases of South American football in recent years, such as:

    The representation of Boca Juniors in their defense against Conmebol regarding incidents in the match against River Plate for the Libertadores Cup 2015.

    The representation of the Football Federation of Chile before FIFA and CAS in complaint against Bolivia resulting from the use of an irregular player in a match for the World Cup Qualifiers 2018

    The representation of 15 Uruguayan clubs appealing to the CAS against FIFA and Conmebol due to the intervention determined by FIFA in the Uruguayan Football Federation.

    Eduardo took part on the creation of "Primeira Liga" (an independent league composed by Brazilian football clubs of the series A and B) during 2015. He has since been their Legal Director.

    Combining technology with sport, Eduardo has acted in the representation of clients in transactions related to the gaming industry and its competitions, besides advising foreign sports betting companies in their insertion in the Brazilian market

    Year after year, Eduardo has been appearing on the main international lists of lawyers active in sport, among them the "Who's Who Legal: Sports & Entertainment" and "Who's Who Legal - Brazil".
